Since the last time we shared some home inspiration, the world seems to have turned upside down due to the ongoing coronavirus (we won’t mention it again, promise!)
The majority of us are doing our bit by staying home and staying safe – but there’s only so much Netflix anyone can watch in one sitting! Looking for some ways to use up your free time? Doing some simple home improvements is a great way to pass the time, while also making the place you’re spending all your time in that little bit nicer.
Stay Safe: There are a range of decorating and home stores that are providing delivery services such as B&Q which all adhere to current safety and hygiene regulations.
Simple Furniture Upcycling
Now is the perfect time to take on those little furniture upcycling projects you’ve seen on Pinterest but always insisted you were too busy to try. Tables, chairs, desks and lots more furniture can be taken and updated for a new and modern look with minimal effort required. Easy step-by-step guides can be found online for most projects to ensure you’re on the right track.
Recent popular upcycling styles include a mixture of paint and stick-on patterns to really make a statement with your furniture.
Freshen Up All the Little Bits
There’s also all of those little bits that are often overlooked that could be well due an update. Take a closer look at the doors, radiators, skirting boards and other small jobs – could they do with a little freshen up? Also, kitchen cupboards and handles all become worn and shabby after a while, so check them too.
If the answer is yes – then it’s the perfect opportunity to get those brushes out and sort out the easy bits so you can focus on the big jobs at a better time. Take a look at our blog on kitchen makeover ideas for some inspiration.
Subtle Change of Colour Scheme
Without doing a whole room make-over, you can still make a huge impact on any setting with subtle changes that can create a stunning colour scheme change. In January, we wrote a blog about ways of adding the 2020 Colour of the Year to your room – but this could be done with any colour of your choosing.
